Another mandala from Dover. I spent about 90min trying to figure out the background color... which is quickly becoming my least favorite part of the process!! Ah well, I went through just about EVERY color I had and was getting dejected when I remembered a forgotten stock of paper which I recently dug out of my parents house. Magic!
4 hours to cut, anther 2+ for processing 8"x8" cardstock royalty free mandala (Dover)
Thank you! I generally print out or draw what I want to make onto a piece of paper, which I lay on top of my colored paper as a pattern. Otherwise, yes, it's freehand! I just go to town with an exacto knife!
Thanks! I am am actually quite surprised with (and proud of) myself--I have only cut myself while working on papercuts twice in the last 5 years, and those were for really stupid reasons. I'm not all that graceful--I'm surprised I haven't had to attempt to explain "experiments with red spatter patterns on my artwork."
Fantastic choice of colors! I think this is one of your cleanest pieces you have posted. I'm really impressed with how much work you put into this piece and the placement of all the smaller "stars" and the center larger circle. Beautifully done.
Thank you! I actually replaced a blade before I started cutting this time so I had a fresh blade for the intricate parts. How quaint! Definitely helped on the cleanliness of the cuts; I should probably make that a habit...
The sad part is that this is really not news to me; I'm just bad about changing blades for some reason. I have quite the stash, but... Hopefully this has started the trend!
